Truely Inspirational

Another splendid and thought provoking evening at the Gawler Women In Business, http://www.nabec.com.au/  meeting held on the first Wednesday of every month.

Guest speaker was Jean Robert. http://www.jeanroberts.com.au/

Jean is an established Australian author, consultant, facilitator, trainer and mentor - having worked with small and large business, governments, statutory authorities, nonprofit organisations, peak bodies - and with individual women and men.

Jean author of the One Man Show, and other publications pertaining to the small business areana, provided a lively and thought provoking talk on her personal, spiritual and professional growth.

"Jean established her One Man Show at age 51, in 1985. She would soon learn that she would find great courage when her need to survive was greater than the challenge to survive.."

For me her story gave encouragement and inspiration to dream your dreams and to reach for your goals. Age, gender, education, etc are not  barriers, our thinking is.

Our women in business group, Gawler, are having a fantastic time. Our attendance numbers have soared posing a good problem, we need a bigger venue.
Another aspect to me that is exciting is I have noticed the increasing number of younger business women coming, bringing with them their enthusiasm and vibrancy.
At our last meeting the guest speaker was Karen Zaskolny, who is a very experienced business women, and operates her own  business in Adelaide called 'Copy with Cream' http://www.copywithcream.com.au/
Karen shared her love for words, and the journey her career has taken her on. She gave us some of the basic do's and don'ts to help find the best way to get our message across to our target market and how to take advertising to the next level.

Our next meeting will be May the 4th. starting at 6pm. with a coffee and bite to eat, marketing and chat.

A Great Start

Wow!, what a great start to the year at our first Women In Business for 2010. The room was overflowing with women. In fact that has posed a good problem. We need a larger venue.
The room was charged with the electricity of  good communication, networking and reconnecting.
The guest speaker Celeste Miller, spoke on "Goal setting and Leadership".
  • Start your business with the end goal in mind.
  • Managers Tools - Step back from the situation, - Think - Organise my thoughts, - Proceed
  • Have a game plan in place, with 5 levels of focus - vision - planing - detail - problems - drama.
  • Keep momentum/motivation in your business - ask What do I want from my business? Focus on your vision. Sometimes there is only a need for 1% improvement in effort.
  • Apprieciation and Acknowledgement - The most important 'Top' values, are lifestyle focused.
  • Develope good business process habits
  • Use a Planner
  • Note Achievments
  • What is it I want to accomplish?
Sometimes we find ourself in the 'weeds' or problems, and focusing on them too much.
  • Take a breather, step up and away from the problem
  • Look at the bigger picture, clarity of view
  • Renewed sense of purpose, see other choices with more clarity and perspective.
  • And much more!
The year is going to be full of these challenging guest speakers, so please come along and join us
